Many people have faced the debate over what to do with old cardboard boxes; do you keep them for future storage? Throw them out? Well, there are actually some fun and useful ways to repurpose cardboard that you may not have thought of before. So before you toss out those cardboard boxes that have been taken up space in your garage, be sure to consider these other options.
Create Drawer Dividers
If you're like many people, you have at least one drawer in your home that you refer to as a "junk drawer." It's totally unorganized, and it stresses you out to even open it. Why not get your junk drawer organized without spending a dime on organization tools? Simply cut cardboard the appropriate sizes to create dividers that you can place in your drawer.
Make a Cat or Dog Bed
If you have a cat or a dog, there's really never any reason to throw out a cardboard box. After all, cats love cardboard boxes; they give cats a sense of security and added warmth. Transform a small cardboard box into a bed for your cat (or small dog) by lining it with a pillow or blankets. You can even spruce things up by painting the cardboard to match your decor.
Let Your Kids Have at It
Kids have the most amazing imaginations, so what might look like a plain, boring cardboard box to you could look like a rocket ship, club house, or car to a small child. If you have children, then, challenge them to see who can come up with the most creative idea using only cardboard boxes. If you don't have kids, check with your neighbors who do. Chances are, they'd be happy to take those boxes off your hands.
Check for Car Fluid Leaks
Finally, remember that you can always use cardboard (especially white cardboard) to check for and diagnose fluid leaks from your car. If you suspect a leak, place a strip of white cardboard underneath your vehicle. A few hours later, check for staining on the cardboard itself. Depending on its color and consistency, you can diagnose what type of fluid is leaking without even having to take a look underneath the car itself.
As you can see, there are so many ways to reuse cardboard. So the next time you're thinking about throwing a bunch of it out, please think again. If you would like to recycle cardboard, contact Sunwest Metals Inc. or a similar company.Share
