Are you planning a backyard wedding? Having your outdoor wedding in your backyard can be a great way to save money and have a more personal celebration with family and friends. A backyard wedding requires significant planning though. You'll have to come up with all of things on your own that normally come as part of a package at banquet hall, such as food, music, and lighting. With all that planning, it's easy to forget about some often-overlooked, but necessary items. As your big day approaches, don't forget about these three essentials:
A parking lot and shuttle bus or valet. Your driveway probably isn't big enough to hold a few dozen cars, so unless you want people parking on your lawn, you'll need to find another option. Take a quick drive around the block and look for a school, church, or other facility that has a big parking lot and usually isn't open on weekend evenings. Then contact them and ask if they'd be willing to rent the parking lot to you for the evening. You may get a few polite rejections, but it shouldn't be hard to find someone who will say yes.
If you're lucky, the parking lot will be within walking distance to your house. If it's not though, consider renting a small bus to shuttle people back and forth between your house and the car. Alternatively, you could hire a valet service so people could come directly to your house, but have their car parked elsewhere.
Heat sources. It may get a bit chilly once the sun goes down. If that happens and you don't have any heat sources, guests could decide to leave early or they could venture into your house. If you don't want either of those outcomes, you need to provide at least a couple areas to warm up. Invest in some space heaters and strategically position them around the reception area. Most equipment or party rental stores will have various size heaters available for one or two night rentals. If guests can warm up from time-to-time, they'll be more likely to keep partying late into the night.
Portable restrooms. This is an essential item, especially if you don't want crowds of people in your house. With all the eating and drinking going on, it's inevitable that people will need to use the restroom. If you don't provide them with a place to do so, they'll undoubtedly use the ones in your home. A portable restroom rental company can deliver the items on your big day and pick them up once the event is over. All you have to do is show them where to place the toilets. You can even spring for upscale rentals that have more space, mirrors, and even working faucets.
Contact a portable toilet rental company (such as AAA Pumping Service) for more information on the type of toilets that might be best for your event. They can help you find the right ones for your budget.Share
